Rediscovering Myself One Mile at a Time
Hi, my name is Audrey. Over 13,000 miles and six weeks, I’ve been on a journey across the US that’s been equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. This isn’t just about the miles I’ve driven on the road, though—it’s about peeling back the layers of who I thought I was and rediscovering who I truly am.
Trading Comfort for the Unknown on the Road
Leaving stability behind to embrace the open road has been the boldest thing I’ve ever done. I packed my life into my car, broke my lease, and set out without a plan. Each mile has taught me something new about resilience, patience, and embracing uncertainty.
I’ve met incredible people along the way, like a mechanic in Kentucky dreaming of a fresh start in Oregon, and countless others whose stories reminded me how connected we all are. But there have also been long stretches of solitude—nights sleeping in my car or under the stars—that forced me to confront fears I’ve buried for years.
The road has a way of stripping you down, exposing the parts of yourself you’d rather ignore. It’s raw, messy, and beautiful in ways I never expected.
Navigating Joy and Pain on the Road
This trip has been a rollercoaster of emotions. There’s been joy—like waking up to breathtaking sunrises in a state I’d never been to before—and heartbreak, as I faced the weight of my past.
Some days, I felt invincible, like I could conquer anything. Other days, I struggled with isolation, grief, and doubt. But each high and low has taught me to trust myself in ways I didn’t know were possible.
The open road doesn’t let you hide from yourself. It forces you to let go of what no longer serves you and to embrace the imperfect, the messy, and the real.
Why I’m Sharing This Journey
This blog is more than just a collection of stories on the road. It’s a chronicle of healing, courage, and the journey to fully embrace life—messy, complicated, and beautiful as it is.
Whether you’re looking for inspiration, connection, or just curious about what it’s like to trade comfort for chaos, I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s explore the lessons waiting on the road together.
Until next time,
Audrey
